Silicon Carbide is an angular and very hard media tha is manmade. At just over 9.0 on the moh scale, Silicon Carbide is the hardest abrasive on the market only to Diamonds being harder at 10.0 moh’s. Silicon Carbide has many applications, but in the abrasive blasting industry, it is used mostly to etch glass and carve stone. Silicon Carbide’s hardness provides very fast cutting speeds and due to its high cost and great recyclability properties, this media is best used in a blast cabinet or blast room.
